About Craig
Craig Orndorff is a longtime (if a 23 year old can be such) Republican activist, historian and seventh generation Shenandoah Valley native living in Shenandoah County. He is currently embarking upon a second career in education. Craig has been active in countless campaigns over the last seven years in both a professional and volunteer capacity. He formerly served as legislative assistant for Delegate Todd Gilbert and has worked with Sheriff Tim Carter, Senator Mark Obenshain, and Supervisor Steve Baker. He has also dabbled in political blogging, both as himself and (regrettably) pseudonymously. From 2006 to 2009 he served as Activities Chairman for the Shenandoah County Republican Committee. In 2009 he was field director in the Shenandoah Valley for the Republican Party of Virginia. He has served on countless delegations and convention committees, including Rules at the 2008 Republican State Convention.
Craig is also an amateur (or professional, given the moment) historian. He formerly worked at Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown, Virginia, where he still docents from time to time. Craig was also a champion public speaker and debater in his high school days. His dream is to someday be a published high school history and government teacher and the Tom Landry of high school debate and forensics. He’s slowly moving some of his attentions to writing both fiction and non-fiction and has an endless supply of (boring to the point of inducing tears) ideas which he hopes to work on at some point in the near future.
Craig received his B.A. in History and Government from the University of Virginia in January 2008, where he was active in the College Republicans. His hobbies including collecting campaign paraphernalia from past Republican campaigns (look for the guy scanning for signs at conventions), reading, playing guitar, and the shooting sports. His policy interests include fiscal policy, Second Amendment issues, and healthcare (stemming from his own successful battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2007).
The one area that Craig has very little expertise in is radio. If you’re looking for that Craig Orndorff, please contact WSVG 790 AM in Mt. Jackson.
